“IT IS IN GIVING THAT WE RECEIVE”

With the desire to continuously give back to Mother Earth + its beings, this value has become an integral part to my work. Whatever it looks like: donating money to the endangered animals through Tiklari, giving bracelets to the immigrant children in the US-Mexico border, offering a baking class at an orphanage, I am committed to giving back to the world. It is my way of expressing my gratitude to Mother Earth for all that she gives us.

I recently put together close to 70 bags of food using 100% of my profits from my Rawmona’s Kitchen Cookbook. Millions of people in Mexico live day to day. People have lost their jobs and cannot leave their homes, and no money that day means no food. During the COVID-19 crisis, lots people do not have enough food to eat because the government has given out some basic staples but not everyone has received this, or they have not received enough. I put together these bags using rice, beans, bread, pasta soup, chocolate milk powder, milk, tomatoes, onions and cookies + personally delivered them to more than 60 families.

My plan with my new food cart, once I am up and running, is to donate a percentage of my profits to buy food for immigrant families in need (in the U.S.)

LOVE Our MOTHER.

One of my values as an artist + cook is in doing whatever I can to help take care of Mother Earth. Here is what I do at Rawmona's Kitchen to help our waters stay cleaner, our soils healthier, our animals happier and our plans + flowers more vibrant.

Ingredients

ORGANIC, NON-GMO INGREDIENTS

The heavy use of agro-chemicals and their discharge and runoff of polluted effluent really pollutes our waters and our air. Our animals then consume this contaminated water, and sometimes, ours is contaminated too. Consuming produce + ingredients that do not have chemicals or pesticides is far less harmful to our environment + our health, and we support farmers that want to protect nature as well.

NO ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS OR COLORINGS

I do not use any processed ingredients, artificial flavorings or colorings. Even ingredients labeled as “natural flavors” are not healthy for you. Less machines + less chemicals = a cleaner world + better health.

PACKAGING

Biodegradable + Compostable cutlery

I offer truly biodegradable and compostable cutlery, napkins and small bowls because 'upon disposal, biodegradable products are capable of being broken down by biological microorganisms, without harming the environment’. Compostable products will naturally degrade into nutrient-rich organic materials when disposed of with other compostable items in limited areas where facilities exist, leaving no visible or toxic residue.'* PLEASE NOTE that plastic made with corn needs to be composted at an industrial compost facility. I choose not to use it because, let’s face it, nobody will take their trash to the industrial compost. Just say no to any plastic.

Jars you can Reuse (or Get a Discount for!)

Instead of using plastic or any other material you will most likely throw away (or maybe recycle), you can wash and reuse our glass jars at home. There is an endless number of things you can do with them: store food, keep small items like pins, buttons, etc.

If you bring them back to us, I give you a 50¢ discount off your next purchase.

BIODEGRADABLE + UNBLEACHED MUFFIN CUPS

Same as our spoons, our muffin cups are biodegradable. They are made using paper from FSC certified forests, and are unbleached and totally chlorine free. 'Since no chlorine is used for bleaching, no chlorine is dumped into our lakes, rivers and streams.'*

UNBLEACHED PARCHMENT PAPER

Our parchment paper is unbleached, non-toxic and biodegradable. They company we buy from is Sustainable Forestry Initiative Certified + CFPA Certified Totally Chlorine Free.
